Susan E. Low has been the Mayor of the City of McHenry since 2003. She began her career in public office in 2001 as McHenry's Ward 3 Alderman.

Mayor Low earned a Master of Education from National-Louis University and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. Recently retired, she was a Special Education Teacher for 31 years.

In 1985 through 1994, Sue served as Chair of the McHenry Fiesta Days Committee. Honored for her community service, she was served with the Frank E. Low Award in 1995. In 2004, she was the recipient of the Marian Central Catholic High School Distinguished Alumni Award.

A third generation lifelong resident of the City McHenry, Sue is married to Tom Low and has one daughter, Bethany Murgatroyd.
