City Clerk - Janice C. Jones
Janice Jones has lived in McHenry since 1993 and was elected as City Clerk in April of 2001. She was born in Torrance, California. Janice has made a strong commitment to the City of McHenry, her adopted hometown, participating in many community and charity focused organizations. She has been an active volunteer for such organizations as Committee at Large (CAL), Northern Illinois Medical Center (NIMC) Auxiliary, Home of the Sparrow, Kiwanis, Rotary, Big Brother/Big Sisters of McHenry County, Pioneer Center and the McHenry Chamber of Commerce.
Janice has thirty-five years of experience in the legal profession as a legal secretary and a paralegal with experience in the areas of civil Litigation, real estate, municipal and corporate law.
Treasurer - Steven C. Murgatroyd
Steven Murgatroyd was appointed to the position of City Treasurer on March 15, 2010. He was first elected to the McHenry City Council in April 1997 and served until October 31, 2009. He was the Chairman of the Finance and Personnel Committee for the majority of his tenor as city alderman. He was also a member of the Parks and Recreation Committee. Steve served on the Project Advisory Committee for the McHenry Downtown Plan and still serves on the Riverwalk Foundation.
Steve has an Associate Degree in Accounting from McHenry County College and a Bachelor Degree of Science in Accounting from DePaul University. Steve believes participative government is most effective and all residents should feel they have a say in their community. A resident of the McHenry area since 1957, Steve is married to Bethany.
Aldermen Ward 1 - Victor A. Santi
Alderman Santi was elected to the City Council in April 2005. He is currently a member of the Public Works Committee and Community Development Committee. He is a past member of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce Public Relations Committee and McHenry County ESDA volunteer.
Vic has resided in McHenry since 1967 and is graduate of the McHenry school system. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Vic has worked in the telecommunications field as a producer/director for five years and as a senior account executive for the last 15 years.
Vic and his wife Donna have three children Andrew, Julia and Ross.
Ward 2 - Andrew A. Glab
Alderman Glab was elected to the City Council in April 1997, and is commonly known as "Andy". He is a member of the Parks ad Recreation Committee. Andy also served on the Planning Advisory Committee for the City's Comprehensive Plan.
Alderman Glab displays Abraham Lincoln"s quote, "Let the people know the facts and the country is safe." at City Council meetings. He is known to regularly walk his neighborhood and speak to neighbors about issues and concerns. Andy is employed by Menards, and he and his wife Helen have two children.
Ward 3 - Jeffrey A. Schaefer
Jeff Schaefer was elected to the City Council in April 2005. Jeff serves on the Parks and Recreation Committee and is Chairman of the Finance and Personnel committee.
Alderman Schaefer is an active member of the McHenry Riverwalk Foundation, Marian Central High School Alumni Association and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Jeff is a partner and sales manager for a manufacturers' representative group that sells disposable industrial and foodservice supplies in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Alderman Schaefer has degree's in Marketing and Business Administration from Carthage College.
Jeff is a 3rd generation, lifelong resident of McHenry. He maintains a very active family life with his wife Tracy, and their four children Sarah, Scott, and twins Timothy and Thomas. Jeff is very proud to be raising his family, working in, and supporting McHenry. Whether it's volunteering to coach softball, soccer, and baseball or helping with fundraising at their school and church, Jeff has always been community oriented. He looks forward to taking this opportunity to a new level as Alderman.
Ward 4 - Geoffrey T. Blake
Alderman Geoff Blake was appointed to the City Council in November 2009. Geoff is also a member of the Finance and Personal and Public Works Committees.
Geoff is a lifelong resident of McHenry and a graduate of Illinois State University. He is currently an eighth grade social studies teacher at Parkland Middle School in McHenry. Geoff is also involved in coaching at Parkland and serves as the youth director for the Catholic Order of Foresters. He has been married to his wife Erin for seven years and they have two children.
Ward 5 - Richard W. Wimmer
Alderman Wimmer was elected to the City Council in April 2001. He is currently the Chairman of the Public Works Committee and is a member of the Finance and Personnel Committee. Alderman Wimmer is an active member of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Noon Club.
Rich is a graduate of McHenry schools and has been a McHenry resident for forty-one years. Since 1988 Rich has worked in the dry cleaning industry and previously served seven years in the Coast Guard. He and his wife Kristie have two sons, Kyle and Jason.
Ward 6 - Robert J. Peterson
Alderman Peterson was elected to the City Council in April 2003. Bob is a life member and office holder of the Kiwanis Club of McHenry, bestowed the Kiwanis Hixson Fellowship Award in 1996, and has been Kiwanian of the Year. Bob is a current member and past board member of the McHenry Chamber of Commerce. Bob is also a past board member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America - Central Division.
Bob is an Optometrist practicing in McHenry since 1972 and in partnership with Dr. Dan Jannotta since 1979. Currently, Bob serves as the President of the Lake-McHenry Optometic Society.
Bob graduated high school in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University and graduated from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois.
When asked to provide a brief statement Bob noted, "Community involvement has always been a high priority for me. Be it in a service organization like Kiwanis or a City Alderman we need to be involved."
Ward 7 - Geri A. Condon
Alderman Condon was elected to the City Council in April 2003. Alderman Condon serves as the Chairperson of the Community Development Committee. In addition, Geri serves as the City liaison to the McHenry Area Youth Commission.
Geri is also a Board Member of the McHenry Area CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition. From 2001 to 2003, Geri served as a McHenry Public Library Trustee and Riverwood School PTO President.
Alderman Condon was a Research Assistant and Policy Analyst for Illinois State House and Senate from 1984 to 1989. Geri has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Bradley University and a Master of Science in Family and Child Studies from Northern Illinois University. Geri is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.
Geri and her husband Jim have three children Jamie, Mitchell, and Colin.
When asked to provide a brief statement Geri replied, "My father was very community minded, serving his community in numerous ways. I grew up with a sense of responsibility to serve my community. It is my pleasure to work with my neighbors in the 7th Ward and the people throughout McHenry."
