Vehicle Sticker Information

City Ordinance requires that all owners or operators of motor vehicles who reside in McHenry or whose motor vehicle is based within McHenry must obtain a vehicle sticker.

Click on the links for your application, that should be filled out and either mailed to the City, placed in our drop box or returned to the Administration counter at the Municipal Center.

The City strongly encourages you to save time, effort and to avoid waiting in line by mailing your updated vehicle applications. Simply update your vehicle information on your pre-printed form (additional forms are available on the City's website) and return to 333 South Green Street with the appropriate fee enclosed. The City will process the application and mail your City sticker(s) to your home address.

All residents of the City of McHenry are required to purchase a vehicle sticker annually for each car, truck, motorcycle and motorized recreational vehicle operated by them. These stickers are valid from May 1 of the issuing year to June 30 of the following year, and are available for purchase beginning on May 1. Pre-printed forms are mailed to residents in late April. Bring this form in to the Municipal Center when purchasing your stickers. Vehicle stickers must be purchased and displayed by July 1 to avoid being charged a $3.00 per month (or multiple thereof) late penalty. The Police Department can issue tickets to persons not purchasing vehicle stickers and a fine can be assessed to offenders. Persons just moving into the City during the year have thirty (30) days to purchase their vehicle stickers.
